ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ENGLISH GLASS JUG OLD RAVENSCROFT REVIVAL DESIGN WHITEFRIARS ? Description This antique circa mid 19th century Victorian English glass jug / pitcher of old Ravenscroft revival design (possibly by Powell / Whitefriars), is hand blown of classic form with the shaped neck pulled up at the back to accept the handle, which has a trapped air pocket along its full length and terminates in a lions head gold foil prunt. The body is decorated with a wavy pie crust band with vertical riggoree strips leading down to prunts, also with gold foil, which mark the ends of a blue chair loop band around the piece widest point. It stands on a small spreading foot ring also with a trapped air pocket. This gorgeous piece of glass has a broken pontil mark to the base and has lots of movement and fine capilli around the neck where it has been worked. The surface has lots of fine seed and there are some tiny bubbles. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repair, there is some genuine old wear to the foot rim consistent with its age and use (please see photos). Height 23cm, 9.1/16".
