Beautiful 1936 Kelloggs Post Toasties Promotional, Melvin Purvis, Junior G-Man Corps Badge. Measures 1 1/2 inches tall by 1 1/4 inches wide. It is made of copper. It is in excellent condition. I see no damage. The back pin is intact. Pin measures 3/4 inch long. This is original. I purchased this badge at an auction in Ohio. I also bought two other badges, the Secret Passport and the package they came in from General Foods, Battle Creek, Michigan. These badges are hard to find in this condition. See my other auctions for the other two badges (they are different), the Secret Passport and the original shipping package. You will receive the original package this badge came in from General Foods, Battle Creek, Michigan. The package measures 5 1/2 inches long by 3 1/4 inches wide.Melvin Purvis hosted a children’s radio program called “Junior G-Men” in 1936. Purvis had become a national hero for his record as an FBI agent during the so-called "war on crime" in the early 1930s for leading the manhunt that ended with the death of John Dillinger. Purvis was seen as a real-life counterpart to the fictional detectives, such as Dick Tracy, that proliferated in the popular culture targeting boys during this period.
