AlbionAntiek Antique Staffordshire Cats19th. Century English Black Glaze Pottery Figures This listing is for a fabulous pair of antique Staffordshire pottery black glaze cats. This type of black glaze is known as Jackfield ware and to find a pair of cats in this shiny black glaze is wonderful! The 19th. century Staffordshire potters of course are known for their output of pottery dog figures (mostly pairs of spaniels) but cats are much harder to find and the black glaze makes these even more special! These figures measure approx. 7-1/2" high (the one on the right is slightly shorter). There are a few small chips to the base edge and one corner (see pictures). Apart from that they are in fine condition. There is some wear of the gilding (the cat on the right has lost his whiskers) but none of these flaws are detracting from the appearance of this handsome pair of cats. These are genuine antiques and were made ca. 1860's in England.Please excuse any glares (white patches) that you may see in the pictures, these are caused by reflections of light on the glaze and are not on the actual object itself.Please note that I am located in the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Holland) which means that this item will be shipped from Europe.
