This auction is for a Singer Model 20 Sewing Machine . This marvelous little machine stands just 7" high and makes lovely chain stitches with a single thread. This is more than a toy for children. It does real sewing!This machine dates from 1914 to 1926. After 1926 threading numbers were stamped on various parts. The machine's cast iron body is heavy, sturdy and thickly enameled. The wheels and gears are well made and balanced. The machine operates as smoothly as a full-sized Singer.This item is in EXCELLENT condition with some wear to the decal on the back side and wear where the machine was clamped. There are other minor cosmetic flaws consistent with age (please see photos). It runs quietly and smoothly. The feed dog and the presser foot move the material through the needle plate at an even pace. The looper and the needle bar are perfectly timed. The result is a beautiful straight stitch line that is stronger than the lock stitches made with two threads!This machine has been carefully cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted. It is ready to work. A small clamp (not Singer), used to secure the machine to a work surface, is included, as is the seam guide. Thread is not included.Please see pictures of my demonstration.
