This is a beautifully wrought Victorian era urn or vase, circa 1880. The design is elegant and classic and unique. The body of the vase is hand etched with swags or garlands of flowers. The foot is copper and decorated with highly ornate squares of stylized flowers over a cool ribbed design. Signed on the base "James W. Tufts, Boston," with a trademark of a T inside a star, the "Warranted Triple Plate, 1011." Tufts was only in business thirty years. The overall integrity of the piece is excellent, no bad dents or dings. It's real solid piece, but shows good age. T's wear and plate loss, but it's kind of hard to tell w it stops and starts because the whole piece has a nice gray patina. T's wear on the inside of the mouth. It leans slightly to one side, but can be straightened or isn't very noticeable. It's a sweet, old piece of art that measures 6.25" high by 2.25" wide. I've seen similar pieces, with perhaps less plate loss, selling for a couple hundred dollars.
