Here we have an exxtreamly nice example of a Classic Sherburne Co. Cabbose whissstle and brack line valve. These are sometimes called a "Peanut" whistle perhaps becausae of thier small size [ only about 8 inch across. This whisetle ran off the air in the caboose brack line and in an emergency could be used as a brake by moving the aarm which would open up the valve dumping the air out of the line and thus activating the brakes. This example is in MINT condition and I am ceretain it was never mounted. Still has it's old green grease inside it looks like which makes the arm stiff to move, arm does move but just stiff. I am sure it will be eassier with sosssme oil soaked into it. The button at the top which works the whistle valve works fine. Perfect threads and no damage or marks etc. Nice patina and never buffed or monkeyed with I havent tested it but don't see why it wouldn't work as the vailve works fine......Really a very nice classic train whistle probably from the 1930s-40s and in a condition that probably could not be upgraded from...Starting auction off low and only $5.35 postage anywhere in the USA and somewhat higher for foreign buyers
