Produced by the John Russell company in their legendary Green River Works in Massachusetts, it has everything any user or collector could ever want and more in term of its materials, craftsmanship, condition and performance. Just look at it--it's a thing of beauty unmatched by anything in the modern marketplace; nothing even comes close. It comes with a fully hand-forged carbon steel blade with integral bolster/tang, and an absolutely GORGEOUS genuine stag handle that is accented at its pommel with a plain nickel silver disc--the ultimate in utilitarian grace. I've never seen another like it and I' ve seen just about all of them. The stag handle has no cracks, chips, looseness or damage of any kind and was selected for the perfect curvature it possesses, which fits the human hand perfectly. Like all carbon steel knives, it must be kept dry, even during use, but this minor inconvenience is more than offset by the superb edge maintenance and performance offered by carbon steel, as any experienced chef or butcher over the age of 50 can confirm. Best of all, perhaps, this exceptional knife was recently given an EXTREMELY sharp professional edge and must be treated with extreme care. You can literally shave your face with it.
