RARE, VERY DETAILED Virginia Handcrafted Wood Bowl. Antique Primitive 1800's Butter / Dough Bowl with the ORIGINAL MUSTARD PAINT in Excellent Condition. Hand Turned of Virginia Mountain Maple - a tree that grows only in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Interior Has A Beautiful, aged dark honey patina that's seen only from age and authentic, honest use. The fats in the butter and lard in the dough turn the wood a darker, warmer color.Gorgeous Extra Wide Rim with Incised Decoration Lines, Additional Incised Line on the underneath of the bowl. Please see pictures. Truly Remarkable RARE piece.Measures: 12 1/2" x 11 3/4" Across x 3" Tall varies a bit to 2 3/4" due to the natural variation in the log the craftsman made this bowl from.My family has owned this once thriving plantation for over 240 years. We're still a working farm here in Central Virginia. We're selling some of our antiques, primitives and collectibles to help with the costs of saving the original 1700's house and buildings.
