Description: Here is a very decorative item to have out on display - a solid wood plumber's or leadworker's turnpin, 5" tall, made ca 1920 in the USA. They are usually boxwood or lignum vitae, but this one looks more like oak to me. They are often mistaken for spinning tops, but if you would like to know how this tool was used, just ask - I come from a long line of plumbers and can tell you. It has its lightly waxed original finish. It has the absolutely normal blunted tip, scratches and dents that one would expect from a tool that was hammered on daily. Condition is exactly what we hope to see. Beautifully tactile. I have a second one at auction this week as well - the last of the family collection.
