Antique Majolica pottery "Pineapple " short cake stand. Beautiful green leaves on a brown field. English. Ca.1870. Probably Wardle & Co.Pictured in Mark Moran's 'Majolica' p.184, p.141Mariann Katz-Marks' 'Encyclopedia of Majolica' p.109,p.137,p.157 Jeffrey Snyder's 'Marvelous Majolica' p.92,p.96,p.109,p.158J.Snyder & L.Bockol's 'Majolica', 2nd Ed., p.78Very good condition. No chips, hairlines or repairs. Crazing. See photos.Unmarked . Measures 9 3/4" round x 2 3/8" tall.Classic Majolica is over 100 years old. It is typically low fired, soft earthenware that is so easily damaged through normal wear and tear. Majolica was meant to be used as a lower cost, day to day ware. Accordingly, it is hard to find 'perfect' pieces, most having scrapes, dings, chips. I try to point out the obvious issues on these pieces but some miss my attention. I set what I think are fair prices, always considering condition. Please message me with any condition questions.I refund excess postage in combined shipping cases.Be sure to check out my other vintage Majolica.
