This is a Rare Early English Antique Pottery Small Inkwell in the form of a portly gentleman to waist,3 openings ( 2 for quills,1 for ink ).It measures 5.5 cms height & 6 x 5.5 cms width approx ,flat base.Honey coloured slip with clear glaze.Circa 1820s ,it has J.Guest ,Steelhouse Lane,Birmingham impressed at back....I believe James Guest were printers of that period.There are several chips to item which can be clearly seen in photos...2 largish chips to rim & 1 smaller....chip to back of 1 shoulder...small flecks off face,chest,hand & arm....chips to base & base edge.Very Interesting, unusual item despite damage.
