Antique Inkwell from New York. Retailed by Bosselman & Co This is a fascinating double inkwell souvenir from New York from around 1900. The shape is very organic, I suppose you could say art nouveau. The outline of the inkwell is made up of three swans. On the lid are three famous New York landmarks: the Metropolitan Building; the Statue of Liberty and the Woolworth Building. At the front, which is shaped to hold a pen, is the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Skyline. The hinged lid covers two original ceramic inkwells. On the base is stamped A.C. Bosselman & Co, New York, who I think were the retailers. Also stamped is Made in Japan with some Japanese writing. Condition: Good overall, but there is some old damage. Part of the original hinge has been replace by wire. A 7 mm piece of the swan’s wing on the left is missing Size approx: 11.5 x 9.5 cm, 3 cm high !!!!!
