Antique Cheval Stand & Mirror--ca. 1880-1900-- The mahogany Cheval stand dates from the Victorian period (1880-1900) and was purchased at auction in the 1970's for $450.00. As you can see, it is very ornate and in beautiful condition for its age. We bought the Cheval stand by itself; there was no mirror. The beveled glass mirror and mahogany frame we had custom made in Virginia by a notable antique restorer to match the Cheval stand; the cost for the beveled glass mirror and mahogany frame was $425.00 in the 1970's. Currently, we have $875.00 invested in this piece, which as you can see is highly decorative, one of a kind, and collectable. I would venture to say that you won't find another like it anywhere. If the buyer lives within a reasonable distance of San Diego, it may be possible to negotiate delivery or a mid-way point to transfer the item.
