18 th /19thc Wedgwood Rosso Antico Teapot c1800. Super Wedgwood Rosso Antico teapot with black basalt applied decoration. The basalt decoration is inspired by Napoleons campaign of 1798 being of Egyptian motifs. The teapot measures to the top of its crocodile finial approx 4 inches and from spout tip to handle tip is 7 .5 inches. Glazed inside. Impressed Wedgwood on the base (see photo). The teapot is in good condition, the basalt motifs being with out loss, however, the teapot has been cracked through and repaired (quite well done) In spite of this the teapot remains a wonderful example and displays very well indeed.
