This large crock has the cobalt stencil marking for "Enterprise Pottery 3 New Brighton PA", dating to ca. 1883. We found this blurb in History of New Brighton Borough, written by Rev. Joseph H. Bausman in 1904: "The Enterprise Pottery was founded in 1883 by D. Osborne, F. H. Stuchfield, and others, and was later purchased by a company of which F. G. Barker was the head, and is now owned by the W. H. Elverson Pottery Company." (found on the rays-place website). Measuring approx. 10-7/8" tall with a 10-1/4" diameter rim, there is appropriate age wear with some nicks and small chips to the interior glaze, exfoliation to the exterior glaze with some crazing, glaze loss to one handle with a small chip, and some discoloration to the stoneware under the glaze throughout.
