This is a beautiful Amethyst geode specimen from our new Brazillian budget range stock, the geode is natural and it measure 315 mm x 180 mm. This is the exact one you will recieve with the agate around the edge, the lavender colour and the calcite crystal. These new geodes (Oct 2012) are not all deep purple, but we have darker ones listed on ebay, these cost us less so we sell them at a much lower price. Please note, Geodes are chiselled out of solid basalt rock by hand in Brazil, so they may have flaws, lines and sometimes nicks from the edges. The geodes are formed when the planet forces a mis-shaped bubble into the basalt and depending upon the composition of the minerals surrounding this, they form different shapes and colours. Amethyst is deeper purple when there is more iron oxide present. After they have been mined they are then graded, cut, levelled and the edges are polished ready for shipping.
