This 5 day listing is for a Merry Go Round truck made by Acme/Thomas from the early 1950's. I have seen these used on American Flyer flat cars for use with the circus train. They are somewhat RARE and highly sought after. They came in a variety of color combinations just like the early Allied cages did. The truck cab looks very similar and almost exact in the front end as the Allied truck. This one however was NOT made by Allied but by a company named Acme which I believe was later bought out by Thomas. I have seen these with Acme by itself and by Acme/Thomas. The truck originally came with a canopy above the animals but the supporting stems were fragile and most often are missing. I know of one very nice gentleman named Ben in Pennsylvania that has used I believe a Plasticville umbrella to complete the missing canopy and they look really good.The animals on this truck are a gorilla, and 2 panthers. When you push the truck on a flat surface the platform rotates via a small gear under the platform. A very novel idea and colorful. This one is complete with the original canopy. As you can see from the photos the canopies were prone to warpage which this one has as can be seen in the photos. I have several of these to sell in the coming weeks. Please see all photos.
