The rare and most original Alabama Cast Iron "Bean Hole Beans" cook pot for cooking the best beans in the world in a hot hole in the ground.The company started in 1912 under the name of Alabama Pipe and Foundry Company, and in 1924 changed it name to Alabama Pipe Company, after consolidating new acquisitions and older properties. So I know the pot was made sometime during or after 1924, since the word "foundry" is not included in the name on the pot lid. The lids were changed a few times over the years - usually seen to commemorate special occasions (such as the "Christmas" pots). The recipe for cooking the beans is actually forged into the underside of the lid.Made by the Alabama Pipe Co. of Anniston, Alabama -- one of a kind and certainly the best one ever made. Ideal for the collector of foundry items, it can also still be used. This iron pot can last for centuries more...use it, preserve it, and enjoy what it is and what it makes for you and your family and friends. Build a campfire, burn it down to glowing charcoals, then rake back the coals, dig a hole a few inches bigger than the pot all around, rake the hot charcoals back in, cover the pot all over, then rake back a few inches of earth and let 'er cook slowly for about 6 or so hours. There are no cracks, holes or flaws of any kind. It weighs a whopping 18 lbs.. It is 10" read more
