This is a Vaseline Glass... Advertising Ashtray... in the form of an automobile tire. At the highest point it stands 1 ½ inches tall. This is an area on the backside that is designed so that you can rest your cigarette on it. It’s just a bit over 4 inches across the “tire” ... and this area stands just a bit over 3/4 inch high. The “tread” on the “tire” looks like four rows of tiny suction cups. The Ashtray appears to be in excellent condition. Advertising on it reads... “Vacuum Cup Cord - Pennsylvania Rubber Co. - Jeannette, Pa. 33 X 5". I’m sure that 33 X 5 was a tire size... and more than likely... away back in the early 1900's. Right in the center of the Ashtray t is a “V” that’s overlaid with a “C”... and the words “non - skid”. The underside of the cigarette holder is marked...”PAT. APLD. FOR”. Just a super neat advertising Ashtray. This Vaseline Glass is of excellent quality. It appears almost “crystal like” in clarity... and is highly fluorescent under the Black Light. I might also mention that Vaseline glass has becoming quite scarce in the marketplace. This is due primarily to tighter controls government has placed on the use of a key ingredient... uranium... that is needed to make this color of glass. Uranium is also employed in the production of armor piercing shells used by the military... and I also feel sure that read more
