He was to escort 71 Chilean leftists to exile in Mexico. The exiles, some of whom had been in the Mexican embassy in Santiago since the September coup that deposed the late Marxist president Salvador Allende, were subsequently shuttle to the airport by bus under heavy guard and left for Mexico with Rabasa aboard a Mexican jetliner. 1974 .
