This scarce authentic 1972 Munich Olympics poster by Jan Lenica (1928-2001) is fresh from a Rhode island estate! The poster measures approx.25 x 40 inches and is signed "lenica" (in the print) in the lower left corner. there is a very tiny chip in the lower right corner otherwise very good condition! NO RESERVE!Jan LenicaJan Lenica, Polish printmaker and illustrator, was from Poznan. He is internationally known for his poster art. He studied architecture at the Technical University of Warsaw.In 1945, he started publishing satirical and humorist drawings in the Polish press. Lenica is greatly known for his poster designs for Polanski's 'Knife in the Water' and 'Macbeth' .In 1964, his works were exhibited at the Documenta III in Kassel. He was awarded the Bundesfilmpreis in 1969.In addition, he was a film maker and from 1979 until 1985, the first professor for animation film at the art college in Kassel. He taught at Harvard University in Cambridge and from 1986 on at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
