Official National League (Giles) baseball was used in the Mets first win of the 1963 season. This win came after 8 consecutive loses. The ball is inscribed by Gil Hodges in faded black ink. Some portions are faded too far to read. What can be seen is, "This baseball caught by ______ April 19, 1963. ______ was foul ball hit by Frank Bolling of the Milwaukee Braves at the Polo Grounds. Mets won first game of season 5 to 4 after losing 8 straight." Ball shows nice game use.
