This is a very unique rare 1940s amber glass humidor for cigars from the El Producto series. It represents the classic American Indian holding a handful of cigars in one hand, and a Peace Pipe in the other. This Indian Chief tobacco jar measures 10" tall x 5" wide. The top lid has a plastic sealer attached to the glass lid. It's in great condition. No chips or cracks. Tobacco jars have been used since the 1700s to store pipe tobacco. They've been made with a variety of materials, including tin, wood, and pewter, but most are pottery jars, made of porcelain, majolica, or bisque. In the mid-19th century, figural tobacco jars (shaped like people or animals) became popular.
