You are bidding on a unique, highly ornate vintage hardcover set of books titled The Chronicles of America The Abraham Lincoln Edition Published by Yale Univ Press, New Haven, 1918-1921 Series edited by Allen Johnson. These volumes were written by noted historians of the time and provide an in depth examination of the history of the United States . Description: Blue ornate covers in highly decorative gilt scrollwork, four cornered “LUX ET VERITAS” (Light and Truth), Unites States shield in center, similar gilt artwork and titling to spines, tope edges gilt, bindings tight and interior pages clean and bright, many volumes contain fold out maps, some volumes have beginnings of fraying to upper/lower spine, these are ex library copy with library marks on spine (see photo), and interior pastedown pages stamped “DO NOT TAKE FROM THIS ROOM” with name of school marked out (see photo), overall in very good condition and a great set of books.
