Item Description 1909 MAUSER BAYONET SWORD Designed to fit the Modelo Argentino 1909 Mauser Infantry Rifle Manufactured in Germany Overall Length is 21", Single sided b lade measures 15 3/4" and is straight single edged and grooved on both sides Wood grips Cross guard is steel with upper guard being the Nuzzle Ring Lower guard forms a hook called a Blade Breaker The ricasso has been stamped with "Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie Solingen" on one side, while the side has the Argentine Crest and "Modelo Argentino 1909". The serial number is "P6932". Solid steel pommel or hilt The bayonet comes with a scabbard or sheath, serial number "C1491". Condition This is a Beautiful old Bayonet! The blade is straight and true, the steel looks good, no nicks etc on blade, very few spots, but no pitting or rust. The sheath is in good condition and the bayonet slides freely in and out of the sheath. The latch to attach it to the gun is firm but moves smoothly. The wood on the handle is in good condition, no cracking or splitting. The pommel has some staining on it, but I believe it would clean right up with steel wool, etc., I just haven't tried.
