Quite a dramatic and beautiful old German regimental beer stein with soldier-image lithophane and very detailed pewter lid! I am fortunate that my neighbor, Sofia, who is from Germany, translated the wording of this old German script for me: "Josef Heringklee, Who has served his time well. He deserves the blessing of a full mug. One more time we must exercise then it's time for the field of parade. For the last time lay at the bivouac fire and then go home to the father's house. And when the homeland calls again, as Reservist and Soldier we lay down the work and follow the flag in devotion.Remembrance of the Service 2. Comp. 7 (Bavaria) Inftr. Rgt. Prinz Leopold Bayreuth 1907...09."Printed on a scene of buildings is "Street Kaserneustrasse, Bayreuth". Stein is 11" tall to top of finial on the lid. Lots of hand enameled embellishment in the decal process and detailed figures on the lid. Busts on the pewter lid include Konig Otto I, Konig Ludwig II and Prinz Regent. I took lots of photos (See below) to show details and condition. Beautiful condition with minor wear and paint chip that shows white on the bottom of the gold-colored 7 on the red material in main image and a stress crack on inside of lid (see photos).'Happy to answer any questions.
