A Fine and rare exotic SATINWOOD, octagonal peaked lid Tea Caddy box. ENGLISH origin Late 18th century. ADAMS design. This fine box is 100% as found and all original including the tiny small brass lid hindges, and front lock. The tea box is made of SATINWOOD a rare and exotic wood used on the most fancy boxes of this Adam period. The front has an inlaid oval surrounding the owners initials painted and worn down. The top has a silvered tiny ring pull, the front having an inlaid ivory key hole escutheon. CIRCA 1780 -1790. CONDITION: repairs of inlay to back of the lid see IMAGE #7 !!! . A genuine antique 18th century box not a reproduction. minor string inlay repaired over 200 years normal with age. the lid closes fine and the tea caddy has a beautiful orange color and aged for many generations.
