One And One-Quarter Inch Celluloid Political Pin Of William McKinley. In 1896, McKinley was the Republican nominee for President of the United States. He defeated Democratic nominee William Jennings Bryan. McKinley was re-elcted President in 1900, again beating Bryan in a re-match. McKinley was assassinated in 1901. This pin is from the Campaign of 1896 as gold v. silver was the issue of the election and theris a Bryan match with a silver background. Button is in very good condition. While there is no backpaper, button's manufacturer's name, the Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. is printed on the curl. Buyer will pay $2.75 for shipping.
