Six Inch Political Ribbon "Governor D. B. Hill 1894" David Bennett Hill was Mayor of Elmira New York before becoming the Lieutenant Governor of New York in 1883. He was elected Governor of New York in 1885. Hill won re-election as Governor in 1888. In 1891, he was elected to the United States Senate in 1891. He again ran for Governor in 1894, but just two years earlier, he was a candidate for the Democratic nominee for President. Hill finished second to Grover Cleveland on the first ballot at the convention by a vote of 617 to 114. Ribbon is in good condition with a few small spots on the front while there are two marks on the back indicating it may have once been glued to something. .
