The earlier Blob top bottles were used in a period from 1840-1890. These later Hutchinson bottles soon became the norm, as they provided a better seal. Hutch bottles were very common in a period from 1879-1912. The bottle was made and then the top was placed on.This beautiful Hutchinson bottle is from the "Vicksburg Steam Bottling Works ", in Vicksburg, Mississippi. M.L. Deadpan started his business in 1885. He sold soft drinks, soda water, mineral water, ginger ale and more. In 1888, he was outselling all the competition, even the water bottlers. In 1889, he started selling Crabapple Cider and Malanga Cream.Dedman ran an ad in the local Vicksburg paper, stating that young boys were stealing his bottle stoppers and selling them to a competitor, Joseph Biedenharn, the first bottler of Coca Cola. So, Dedman believed that Biedenharn put him out of business. So, you'll never see any crown top caps from Dedman's company.The bottom of this bottle has a "D". The backside of bottle has, "D.L. Dedman". The bottle is 7 1/4" tall. Coca Cola was never bottled in this bottle, and no "Coca Cola" is printed on this bottle.This bottle is in very good shape for its age.
