For reproduction purposes I can not do returns/refunds on photographs/negatives!I will Combine Shipping!~Ben Traywick, world-renowned author, founder of the Wild Bunch and Hells Bells and Tombstone's Official Town Historian will be retired on October 26, 2010 at high noon after 39 years of service to Tombstone. If October 26th seems like a familiar date in Tombstone's history, it should, as it is the date of the infamous gunfight at the OK Corral.In his official retirement letter Traywick stated; "All things must come to an end. We may not like that sometimes - but we have to accept it as part of the journey thru life."The Mayor and Council unanimously accepted Traywick's retirement During the October City Council meeting. Traywick was also named Historian Emeritus for the City of Tombstone. Mayor Escapule who has known and been friends with Traywick for 42 years then read Resolution #16-2010 which Escapule wrote in honor of his longtime friend;A RESOLUTION BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TOMBSTONE, COCHISE COUNTY, ARIZONA, DESIGNATING BEN TRAYWICK AS HISTORIAN EMERITUS FOR THE CITY OF TOMBSTONE, ARIZONA.WHEREAS, Ben Traywick has been the Official Historian for the City of Tombstone for thirty-nine years; andWHEREAS, Ben has contributed 1,270 articles, authored thirty-five books and sixty-nine pamphlets on Tombstone's history; andWHEREAS, Ben has appeared on the "Today Show" four times and appeared in 266 films; andWHEREAS, Ben has been available to historians, documentary productions and established an open door policy at Red Marie's book store to answer questions for hundreds of visitors; andWHEREAS, for over forty years Ben has displayed his true and sincere love for Tombstone and its history.BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council hereby declare Ben Traywick as "HISTORIAN EMERITUS".PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Tombstone, Arizona, this 12th day of October, 2010.In his retirement letter Traywick left Tombstone with these words. "As I depart I would leave this thought with you all. If not for our history and some of the people who were here - we would be just another small town in the high desert. People come to Tombstone to see the last big boom town and to feel a kinship with those who made it famous. They do not come here to see motorized vehicles. They come here to get away from them. True there is room here for such vehicles outside the historic district. Preserve the town's history and Tombstone will always be here. Remember the magic words; Tombstone, OK Corral, Earp and Holliday.
