DESCRIPTION: Vintage annual pass issued by the Sycamore, Cortland and Chicago Railroad in 1880 to Robert Gatzmer, General Ticket Agent of the Philadelphia and Atlantic City Railway. Printed by Rand-McNally-Co. Signed by C. Ellwood, Vice President and General Manager of the railroad. The back contains the usual terms and conditions statement. The Sycamore, Cortland and Chicago connected Sycamore, Ill., with the Chicago and North Western Railway at Cortland, Ill., a distance of less than five miles. In 1887 the railroad became a part of the Chicago and North Western. Compare this pass with the Rogersville & Jefferson Railroad pass that I am also listing this evening. They are virtually identical in design. CONDITION: This pass is in very good to excellent condition with a very minor amount of toning along the edges.
