You are bidding on a rare antiquarian hardcover book titled the Life and Public Services of Abraham Lincoln. By Henry J. Raymond. Raymond was the Editor of the New York Times and he brought this volume out with amazing dispatch after the assassination of Lincoln. This was one of the first books out to detail Lincoln's assassination. The full title is "The Life And Public Services Of Abraham Lincoln , Sixteenth President Of The United States, Together With His State Papers, Including His Speeches, Addresses, Messages, Letters, And Proclamations, And The Closing Scenes Connected With His Life And Death". Frank B. Carpenter , who had lived in the White House for an extended period, added a section, "Anecdotes And Personal Reminiscences Of President Lincoln". With a steel portrait and other Illustrations. Published by Derby and Miller, 1865. This is the scarce and collectible First Edition. Book is bound in brown cloth bin ding. The binding shows significant wear to corners and edge with some splitting of gutters. It is a thick book of 808 pages. All pages are tightly bound.
