This is an auction for a very scarce book "Sir Tristrem ” edited by Sir Walter Scott, Baronet, published in 1830 in Edinburgh Scotland by Cadell & Co. and Simpkin and Marshall of London. “ Sir Tristrem, A Metrical Romance of the Thirteenth Century by Thomas of Erceldoune called the Rhymer” . Volume IV of Scott’s Poetical Works . A good hardback copy in an ornate blue leather binding with gilt design and gilt edges to text, marbled end pages. The date “1830” is stamped in gilt to lower edge of spine. There is some rubbing and shelf wear to corners of boards, and to a lesser degree the binding itself. There is some marginal foxing very occasionally in the text. The book binding is solid and tight. Book measures 8.5 by 5.5 inches, 399 pages. There are not names, no writing, no bookplates and comes from a smokefree environment. This book is NOT an ex library copy. US bidder free shipping and handling. Selling rare books since 1994.
