Rare* 1776 1876 Centennial CHILDS LIBERTY BELL SPOONER Gillinder Miniature This auction is for a very scarce child’s size spooner in the Liberty Bell Pattern by Gillinder. The spooner was part of a 4-piece miniature table set available at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. This piece is the rarest of the 4 pieces because it was often used by the parents as a toothpick holder. The maximum diameter across the scalloped rim is 1 15/16” and it strands 2 3/8” high. The condition is only VG due to a heat crack that starts between 2 rim scallops and ends near the Bell’s clapper (see photo details). Otherwise, there is a tiny flake on the base rim and minor mold roughness (as made) on the outside edge of the scalloped rim. This form always exhibits mold roughness in this location.
