Hyalyn Flared Green Vase # 308 Mid-20th Century North Carolina Pottery This wonderfully elegant mid-century modern vase from Hyalyn Pottery has a graceful shape, with ends that spread like wings, with a recessed foot and ribbed sides. It is glazed in a dark forest (or pine) green matte glaze (not the avocado glaze common with many such period pieces). Although the vase is in very good condition, it does have a lot of mineral buildup or residue on the interior. I believe a prolonged vinegar soak would probably take care of most of this, but I will leave that to a new owner. There are no structural problems--no chips, cracks, fleabites, or crazing. The vase measures 12.5 inches long at the rim, 6.5 inches wide at the middle, and 3.5 inches high at the ends. The bottom has an exposed white clay foot and a raised "navel" in the center. There is an incised mark for "Hyalyn" and another incised mark for "308." Hyalyn Porcelain (as it was originally called) was founded in 1947 in Hickory, North Carolina. This piece makes a great addition to either your Southern pottery or your Eames-era collection. Terms, Conditions, and Shipping: 1.
