LOT 445Seller's Estimate: USD 400 - 600Electronically tested 925 silver ladies cast assembled blue topaz and white sapphire pendant with chain. The featured blue topaz is set within white sapphire ribbons completed by a hidden bail. The pendant is supported by an eighteen inch length 925 silver designer style chain, terminating in a lobster claw clasp. Bright polish finish. Trademark is Orianne. Identified with markings of "925". Condition is new, good workmanship. One prong set oval mixed cut natural blue topaz approximate weight of 8.10ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, medium, moderately strong, very slightly greenish blue color, (GIA vslgB 5/4), cut is good. Transmitting light with no distortion, transparent. Graded in the setting. A deposit of a thin layer has been applied to the topaz to produce the intense color effect. The process utilizes a very high temperature treatment, diffusion of ions into the topaz, plus in some cases neutron bombardment has been used to create the color center. Diffusion processes causes the added ions to become part of the crystal surface with no distinct boundary. Do not put a gem treated in this manner into an ultrasonic cleaner.
