He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and started his fashion career working for Jean Desses and Guy Laroche. Valentino SpA was established in 1960 in Rome. Valentino Garavani is very well known for his red dresses. The shade became known as "Valentino red." Valentino retired in September 2007.
