Levi Strauss was born February 26, 1829, in Bavaria. He immigrated to the United States in 1847. He worked in New York City until 1853 when he left for California. In 1873, Levi associated with Jacob Davis and the first concept of jeans appeared. The first pair of Levis 501 Jeans appeared in the 1890s. When Levi Strauss died in 1902, the company he created, Levi's, was taken over by his four nephews. This particular Levi's clothing label is from a vintage denim jacket.
