Christian Dior, one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, was born on January 21, 1905, in Granville, Manche, France. At the age of five, he and his family moved to Paris, where in 1928 he opened a small art gallery. Dior worked as a fashion designer for Robert Piguet and Lucien Lelong. He founded his own fashion house in 1946 and launched his first collection called Corolle. Christian Dior died in 1957 in Italy. Today, the fashion house is owned by group Arnault. This particular Christian Dior clothing label is from a 1970s vintage sweater.
