Oscar Aristides Renta Fiallo was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on July 22, 1932. He moved to Spain at the age of 18 to study painting. Oscar started to work as a fashion designer with Balenciaga. In 1961, he left for Paris to work at Lavin. Oscar de la Renta also worked with Arden and Jane Derby in New York. From 1993 to 2002 he designed the haute couture collection for Balmain. He started his own label in 2003. Oscar de la Renta died in 2014.
