Ross Sutherland was a businessman in Honolulu with exceptional, fine taste for men's wear. In the 1940s, he opened his first store in downtown Honolulu on Fort and Hotel streets. Ross was a patron of the Aloha Shirt and would buy select Hawaiian and Oriental themed prints from the best Honolulu garment manufacturers. The Aloha Shirt was first sold at "Musashi-ya Shoten" in Honolulu. "Musashi-ya" was established by Japanese immigrant Chotaro Miyamoto in 1904. This particular clothing label is from a Hawaiian shirt.
