Liberty House was established, as a department store, by Captain Heinrich Hackfeld in 1849 in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1937, a second store was opened in the Waikiki area and, during the 1970s it expanded into California, Nevada and Washington. The company declared bancruptcy in 1998. In 2001, Liberty House label was bought by Macy's. This particular Liberty House clothing label is from a 1940s shirt.
