Arthur Dery and Maurice Saltzman established the Fine Gauge Knitwear Company in 1949 in Willoughby, Ohio. The company was a cashmere maker but in the 1980s when it became Dalton, it also became a mid-priced sportswear maker. The company closed in 1986. This particular Dalton clothing label is from a 1960s sweater.
