Edgar W. Stewart established Bentz Knitting Mills in 1907. The name was changed to Pacific Knitting Mills in 1912 and the final name change came in 1928, to Catalina. It is one of the oldest clothing manufacturers in California. The company hired famous designers like Orry Kelly, Milo Anderson, Edith Head and Travis Banton. From 2014, Catalina swimwear is only available for purchase through Wal-Mart. This particular Catalina clothing label is from a 1953 bathing suit.
