Bernhard Altmann lived between 1888 and 1980. He was an Austrian textile manufacturer who had to leave his business first in Viena then in Liverpool because of the Nazis. In 1939 he immigrated to the United States where, after a few years of struggle, he started a new company. Nowadays, Altmann trademark is held by McGregor. This particular Altmann clothing label is from a 1950s sweater.
